Course Overview
The Gas Test Atmospheres course (MSMWHS217) equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to safely test atmospheric conditions in the workplace. This includes identifying hazardous gases or insufficient oxygen levels before entry into potentially dangerous environments.
This nationally recognised training is essential for those required to conduct atmospheric testing as part of their job role—particularly in confined spaces, enclosed environments, or locations where hot work is being performed. The course focuses on the correct use of gas detection equipment, interpreting results accurately, and making informed decisions to ensure a safe worksite.
Whether you’re preparing for confined space entry, working under a permit system, or operating in enclosed industrial environments, this course delivers critical safety competencies that meet Australian WHS standards.
What you will learn
Participants will develop a thorough understanding of:
- Select and calibrate equipment in accordance with procedures
