Course Overview
The Height Rescue course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to plan and respond effectively to a fall from height. Through guided exercises and realistic rescue scenarios, participants learn how to safely manage and perform rescues of workers suspended at height.
This course is designed for individuals who work at heights, as well as those who are not part of a formal Emergency Response Team (ERT) but may be required to carry out a first response rescue. Training focuses on building competence and confidence to ensure safe, timely, and effective rescue operations in the workplace.
What you will learn
Participants will develop a thorough understanding of:
- Review Work at Height regulations
- Develop and implement rescue plans
- Select and use rescue equipment safely
- Perform rescues without specialist equipment
- Use access equipment for rescue operations
- Apply remote rescue techniques for scaffolders suspended in free space
- Conduct fully assisted rescues for scaffolders in free space
- Understand the role of emergency services and HSE first aid advice
- Participate in practical rescue exercises
Eligibility criteria
All candidates must meet the minimum Language, Literacy, and Numeracy requirements.
Candidates must also:
- Undertake manual handling tasks
- Be in good general health and fitness
- Be physically capable of scaffold work
Assessment requirements
A candidate cannot be deemed competent for the unit unless they are able to demonstrate satisfactory performance (to the required level) in all assessment tasks.
Each candidate has a maximum of two additional opportunities to demonstrate competency without additional fees applying.
Certification and renewal
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.
