Course Overview
The White Card (CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry) is the mandatory entry-level safety course for anyone seeking to work on a construction site in Western Australia. Completion of this course provides you with a WorkSafe WA Construction Induction Training (CIT) card, commonly known as the White Card.
This training meets the requirements under the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Health and Safety Regulations 2022, ensuring that participants understand fundamental construction safety practices to help protect themselves and others at work.
Delivered 100% online, this flexible training is ideal for individuals beginning a career in construction, as well as those needing to update their White Card status in Western Australia.

Eligibility criteria
All candidates must meet the minimum Language, Literacy, and Numeracy requirements by completing the LLND assessment prior to enrolment.
Candidates must also:
- Be based in Western Australia
- Be able to read and interpret signs and procedures
- Write short, simple notes and fill in forms
As part of the assessment process, you will be required to verify your identity. The practical demonstration is to be carried out in one session, via video evidence collection (webcam / smartphone required).
Assessment requirements
Participants will be assessed via:
- Online learning modules and multiple-choice quizzes
- A short written assessment (completing a basic WHS form)
- Online written exam
- Practical demonstration – conducted via webcam or smartphone video submission
All assessments must be completed within 90 days of enrolment. If not completed in this timeframe, participants will be required to re-enrol and pay the course fee again.
Assessment must be conducted in English and without the use of a translator. Identity verification is required as part of the assessment process.
Certification and renewal
Upon successful completion of all assessments, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry and be issued with a WorkSafe WA White Card—a mandatory requirement for all construction sites in Western Australia.
Although this certification does not formally expire, industry best practice encourages workers to refresh their knowledge periodically, especially when regulations or site conditions change.
